A sense of community and belonging is just one aspect of what makes life at St. Isaacs so special. Our goal is make you and your child feel welcome and comfortable from day one. Below are some events that we coordinate solely for our new families.
SIJ HOST FAMILY & HOST STUDENTS
Each new family is connected with a host family and each new child is connected with a host student. The host family will be your lifeline to everything at SIJ! They will have a son/daughter at SIJ who is in the same grade as your child who will be a buddy to your child…helping him/her meet other students at SIJ, asking any questions and just be there for them. Over the summer, your host family will set up a small get together so that your family can meet a few other SIJ families and just as important, your child will meet many other SIJ kids in their grade. By the time the first day of school comes, your child will no longer feel “like the new kid on the block”.
KINDERGARTEN MOM’S COFFEE
ALL incoming kindergarten moms attend this very popular tradition at SIJ. An SIJ mom hosts this fun get-together in her home. Names and phone numbers are exchanged and play dates are set up before the coffee even begins!
KINDERGARTEN SURVIVAL GUIDE
The kindergarten survival guide is a crucial guide to navigating kindergarten, with everything from calendars, and FAQ’s to friendly advice from more “seasoned” SIJ moms.
KINDERGARTEN “PLAYDATE IN THE PARK”
ALL incoming kindergarten children are invited to kick off the summer with a fun play date at Robbins Park! This is a great opportunity to meet more families. The playdate is usually on a Saturday. Dads LOVE this event!
WELCOME BACK TO SIJ MASS & ICE CREAM SOCIAL
What better way to kick off the school year than with a Mass and Ice Cream! Over 500 people attended last year’s ice cream social! We have a special SIJ New Family tent where we help you connect with either your host family or other families that have similar aged children as yours.
NEWCOMERS PARTY
Another one of our long-standing beloved traditions! Once things settle down, all new families and their host families, teachers, administration, and our priests get together at an SIJ family’s house for an adults only cocktail and desserts hour.
